Competitions & Rules' for 2011.
1 All Competitions shall be played under E.B.A. Rules
2 The first named player(s) is/are the Challengers, responsible for arranging the date and time of the game,
offering two alternative dates and, in cases of singles, a marker.
3 Challengers unable to arrange a match, for whatever reason, shall report the circumstances to the
Competition Secretary before the expiry date of the round, an extension may be granted. Failure to do so
may result in the Changer(s) being scratched from that competition.
4 Opponents (second-named player(s), who are not challenged must report the fact to the Competition
Secretary before the expiry date of the round.
5 Results must be entered on the Competition Charts on completion of the game.
6 All disputes shall be referred to the Competition Secretary and the decision of the full Committee shall be
final.
7 In pairs and Triples Competitions one substitute shall be allowed by permission of the Competition
Secretary. The sustitute shall not have played in previous rounds of the competition in which they have
been invited to substitute.
8 Substitutes will not be allowed after the quarter final of any competition.
9 Drawn 2 Wood Triples
a) each player will use only 2 woods.
b) a team causing a "No End" will forfeit 2 shots and the end will count.
10 Drawn Australian Pairs
a) the LEADS will play TWO woods each and change with the SKIPS who will then play all their FOUR
woods. The LEADS will will then return to play their TWO remaining woods. In the next end this is
repeated. However, the SKIPS in the first end now become the LEADS and the LEADS in the first end
now become the SKIPS. This reversal of order continues until the completion of the fifteenth end.
b) a "No End" will count as an end played.
11 Ladies Choice Triples
The team must be skipped by a lady. The rest of the team can be of any sex.
12 Jubilee Cup / Plate
a) Played over 2 sets of 9 ends and, if necessary, a third set of 3 ends.
b) Each player will use only 2 woods
c) Order of play - Set 1 Lead - Player No. 1 Skip - Player No. 2
Set 2 Lead - Player No. 2 Skip - Player No. 1
Set 3 Order - Optional
d) There will be no trial ends, play will commence "Straight In" (except the Final).
e) A team causing a "no end" will forfeit 4 shots and the end will count.
f) No visiting the head at any time.
g) Teams will toss a coin for choice of the mat on the first end. The team playing second on the first end
of the first set will cast the jack on the first end of the second set. Should the match be drawn after 2
sets, a third set consisiting of 3 ends shall shall be played with the toss of a coin for the choice of the
mat for the first and third ends, the winner being decided by the winner of each end not the total of
shots.
h) In the event of an illegal Jack being cast the opposing skip shall place the jack and have control of the
mat. The Lead responsible for the illegal Jack will still deliver the first wood.
i) All teams losing their first match will play in the Plate Competition.
13 Novices
This Competition is open to all Members who have not won a Singles Competition at Broomwade.
